You don’t need to worry about whether your class is more or less difficult than the other classes, you just get to teach your class to the best of your ability. The Bell Curve system allows professors greater freedom in how they decide to write their exams and evaluate their grades. But without the bell curve, one student might get a lower grade than another despite performing at a higher level simply because they were placed in different sections. This is fine, not every class has to have the exact same grading standard. A professor with an incredibly rigorous course in which only absolute geniuses could get a 100 may have top-performing students get an 85, while a generally lax class could have slackers getting a 95. It’s necessary because what defines a grade varies from class to class yet the GPA system treats grades as if they’re all worth the same.
